Nancy Clark is the new manager of the Chugiak-Eagle River Neighborhood Library. A lifelong Alaskan, Clark has worked in a number of libraries in the state since receiving her MLS from Indiana University-Bloomington in 1991.

Clark began working for Anchorage Public Library in 1993, including serving as the manager of the now-closed Samson-Dimond Branch, and, for the last six years, as the coordinator of the library’s Adult Services.

“I asked for this position because I love working in a neighborhood library setting,” she said in a press release. “I want the library to remain a vital element of this community, and to be responsive to the needs of our patrons.”

Clark said her goals include increasing programming for all ages, especially adults; using videoconferencing to expand the variety of events; revitalizing the collection and doing more outreach, such as going to community councils.

“It’s wonderful to work in a community that strongly supports their public library,” she said. “The patrons have been very welcoming and I’m especially impressed by the number of people who want to volunteer their services to help the library.”
