Mrs. Alaska keeping busy
Eagle River’s Ariel Talen-Keller, Mrs. Alaska United America and founder of Aero Femme nonprofit organization and scholarship fund, was invited as a keynote speaker to the Women in Aviation International conference in Nashville, Tenn. March 14-16. She spoke about the nonprofit she founded in 2010 and has detachments across the nation. Also last month, Talen-Keller’s scholarship fund announced its first two scholarship recipients at the Alaska Military Youth Academy graduation ceremony. Talen-Keller awarded the two $250 aviation scholarships to Alaska Military Youth Academy graduates Riley Kelderman and Rachel Brewer.
The Alaska Military Youth Academy had received $500 from Aero Femme for two aviation scholarships in December 2012. These two scholarships were the first in a series of new aviation scholarships offered to academy graduates.
