Eagle River splits with South
Eagle River High split with South on Saturday, March 30 at The Dome.
Eagle River’s girls earned a 2-1 win while South’s boys blanked the Wolves 3-0.
Elexa Walker and Shayna Wolery scored for Eagle River’s girls, who improved to 2-1. Elana Williams had the assist on Wolery’s tally.
The Wolves’ physical play keyed the victory, head coach Trent Boggs said.
“We took it to them,” he said. “The girls needed to play that way.
“As a team, they really put in a lot of work to win that game,” Boggs said.
Keeper Tara Fisher also had a solid outing for Eagle River, he said.
In the boys game, Eagle River failed to scored in its third straight game and fell to 0-3.
Aside from a couple of mistakes, Eagle River played well, head coach Eric Dearborn said.
Having played Dimond and South two of the first three games this season, Dearborn said he’s happy the Lynx and Wolverines aren’t on Eagle River’s schedule anytime soon.
“I’m glad we’re done playing both of them for a while,” he said.
Eagle River’s girls play Service today (April 4) at 6:30 p.m. at The Dome. After 11 days off, the boys play Service on Wednesday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. at The Dome.
