CHS girls blank Wolves
Holly Brehmer provided the offense and Alexis Trombley handled the D as Chugiak’s girls soccer team held on for a 1-0 win over rival Eagle River Saturday, April 20 at The Dome in Anchorage.
Brehmer scored in the 27th minute, giving the Mustangs all the offense they’d need to improve to 5-1-3 on the season. Eagle River fell to 2-4 in the Cook Inlet Conference with the loss.
Trombley’s biggest save came in the opening minutes of the second half, when Eagle River’s Shayna Wolery broke behind the defense and went one-on-one with the Chugiak goalie. Trombley held her ground for the save, and Eagle River was unable to corral the rebound attempt.
Minutes later, Wolery again put pressure on the Chugiak defense, but her apparent goal was disallowed by a linesman’s offside call.
CHS coach Paul Brehmer said he was impressed with Trobley’s play in net.
“She’s doing a good job for us,” he said.
