Distinctive couple grabs amp from Priceless Treasures

Anchorage police said two people walked into Priceless Treasures, a second-hand consignment store on Birchwood Loop Road in Chugiak, and stole a $450 amplifier before fleeing in a vehicle the afternoon of May 2.

The suspects were described as a white man between 20 and 30, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11, with short sandy brown hair and no teeth, and a white woman of the same age range, 5-foot-4 between 160 and 180 pounds, with brown and purple hair.


Domestic violence arrests

Anchorage police said they issued an arrest warrant for a 41-year-old man following a report that he assaulted a friend or family member in Chugiak on May 2.

In an unrelated incident on May 3, police arrested a 28-year-old man on charges of second- and fourth-degree assault after he assaulted a female victim in Eagle River. The man was taken to Anchorage Jail on $10,000 bail.

In another, separate incident May 3, police arrested a 36-year-old woman after she assaulted a male friend or family member in Eagle River.

On May 5, police arrested a 43-year-old Chugiak man following an assault on a female friend or family member.


DUI arrests

Anchorage police said they arrested Terry Vernon Simpson, 56, of Chugiak for driving under the influence after finding his vehicle stuck in a ditch at the Mirror Lake exit of the Glenn Highway around 4 a.m. on May 3. Simpson provided a breath-alcohol sample just under one and a half times the legal limit. He was taken to Anchorage Jail on $250 bail.

In a separate DUI arrest on May 8, police said they arrested Amanda May Vogus, 37, of Chugiak after stopping her just after midnight for weaving across multiple lanes and erratic driving near the North Eagle River Access of the Glenn Highway. Vogus provided a breath-alcohol sample more than twice the legal limit. She was taken to Anchorage Jail; her bail amount wasn’t available.


Charges are merely accusations; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty at trial or until a plea of guilty is accepted by the courts.
