Soldier gets six months

DUI, abusive sexual conduct earn jail, dismissal

A 33-year-old Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson soldier was sentenced to six months in prison and ordered dismissed from the Army after he was convicted by a military judge of abusive sexual conduct, driving under the influence of alcohol and disobeying the lawful order of a superior commissioned officer. According to the Army, Chief Warrant Officer Guillermo Castillo must also forfeit #3,000 per month for 12 months.

The sentence was handed down following a court martial held May 23 on base.

According to a press release issued following the court martial, Castillo joined the Army in 2000. Her served as an enlisted soldier until 2009, when he enlisted in Warrant Officer Candidate School, graduating in November of that year.

He was assigned to the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division and deployed to Afghanistan for seven months in 2012.
