Josh proposed on his 28th birthday during a trip to Atlanta to attend Kate’s cousin’s wedding. The night before the wedding the majority of her family gathered to play games and have dinner. Her Aunt Carol wanted to make a toast to weddings and to families and to Kate’s cousin, Jackie, and her husband closing on their first home. Jackie then pointed to Josh saying and to birthdays. Josh then stood up and said, “Well I actually have something better to celebrate.” He gave a short speech before getting down on his knee to propose.
“Of course I said yes and my family was so happy for us,” Kate wrote. “Our wedding will make the fourth wedding in my family in four years. They are always great family reunions and I’m happy to be a part of what seems to be a new tradition.”
The couple met online in the summer of 2011. They talked for almost two months before meeting in person on Aug. 7, 2011.
The couple will have an engagement party June 23 in Eagle River, to celebrate with friends and family in Alaska who can’t make it to the wedding. For more information please visit their wedding website at katenjosh.com.
