Anchorage resident Sherry Dianne Beall, 76, died May 31, 2013 in Anchorage.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7 at the Anchorage Funeral Home, 1800 Dare Avenue, in Anchorage. Viewing will be held at 9 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
Sherry was born on February 4, 1937 in Brunswick, Maryland, where she graduated from Frederick High School. She became a resident of Alaska in 1975.
Sherry worked for the Elmendorf Youth Center from 1994-1997. She served as an advisor for the Air Force Enlisted Wives Club at Eielson AFB in Fairbanks. She also served as the Little League President on Elmendorf AFB from 1984 to 1990.
Sherry enjoyed crocheting, arts and crafts, as well as photo scrap booking. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Her family wrote, “Sherry was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be missed by all she touched. She faithfully stood by her husband and best friend James throughout his military career, supporting him and their family through his 30 years of service. Sherry loved working and dedicating her time to help others. Her love of children was highlighted by many years of volunteering with Little League and working in her neighborhood youth center. Her adoration for children was her greatest gift, always bringing smiles to the faces of the many children whom called her grandma. Her family and friends will miss her dearly.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger W. Mills Jr. and Charlotte.
She is survived by her husband, James R. Beall of Eagle River; daughters, Debbie Montgomery and Vickie Whitesell of Anchorage; son, Timothy Beall of Anchorage; grandson, Michael Whitesell of Peters Creek; and grandson Shawn Whitesell of Anchorage; grandsons, Graydon Yagle of and Deryk Yagle of Anchorage; and her granddaughter, Briahna Yagle of Anchorage; brother, Roger W. Mills of Frederick, MD; and sister, Vera D. Smith of Walkersville, MD.
