Sarah Miller, a 2013 graduate of Chugiak High School, recently completed her Girl Scout Gold Award by refurbishing and installing new school signs at Chugiak Elementary School. The Gold award is the highest honor in Girl Scouts. Sarah is a member of Troop 664.

When the school district and state redesigned the parking lot and entrances to Chugiak Elementary School, no new signage was installed to identify the entrance.

Miller refurbished the old Chugiak Elementary School sign and flower box on North Birchwood and created a new Chugiak Elementary School sign and flower box at the new school entrance off the Old Glenn Highway.

Miller would like to thank the generous donors who assisted in her project: Spenard Builder’s Supply, Home Depot, Perennial Gardens, P & M Gardens and Lowes. She also wishes to thank Charlie Peters of the Anchorage School District for helping with the permitting process, Rick Pylant for his woodworking skills and patience, McClintock Land Associates for AutoCAD support, and the Chugiak Elementary School PTA for their generous funding of the project.
