Hartke attends NYSC
Chugiak’s Samantha Hartke, a 2013 graduate of Chugiak High School, represented Alaska as a delegate to the 2013 National Youth Science Camp. Hartke joined 121 other top high school graduates representing the United States and nine other countries at the prestigious four-week program, now in its 50th year. The NYSC, located in the beautiful and rustic setting of the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia, integrates scientific programming with opportunities for delegates to explore music, art, and the outdoors.
In a press release, Hartke said, “NYSC has really broadened my perspective. Hanging out with these amazing people from different states and countries makes me want to go out and meet more people, discover more places.”
Hartke plans to attend the University of Texas at Dallas, where she will study biomedical engineering.
