Chugiak, Eagle River swimming split dual

‘Think Pink’ meet raises $3,000 for breast cancer

Chugiak and Eagle River split a dual swimming and diving meet Friday, Oct. 11 at Bartlett’s pool.

Sammy Burke (200 free, 100 back) and Emmie Jennings (50 free, 100 breast) won two individual events apiece to help Chugiak’s girls edge Eagle River 96-89.

Bryce Fox-Icarro won two individual events (100 free, 100 back) and swam a leg of two winning relays to help Eagle River’s boys to a 128-58 victory. Mark Korzon also won two individual events (200 IM, 500 free) for the Wolves, who won all three boys relays.



Meet raises $3,000

Chugiak High raised $3,000 for breast cancer during its annual “Think Pink” meet with Eagle River, South and East Saturday, Oct. 12.

Eagle River’s Kenzie Smith scored a meet-high 9.45 in her first-place floor exercise performance. She also won the uneven parallel bars and finished second in both beam and vault.

Alicia Reitz led Chugiak with a pair of third-place finishes in vault and floor.



Dimond 3, Eagle River 0

Visiting Dimond swept Eagle River 3-0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-11) on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Paige Harder led the Wolves with nine assists. Jayme Whipple added eight digs for Eagle River.


Service 3, Eagle River 0

Service swept visiting Eagle River 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-9) on Friday, Oct. 11.


South 3, Chugiak 0

South swept host Chugiak 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-11) on Friday, Oct. 11.


Chugiak 3, West 0

Anna Ingraham recorded 15 assists and 10 digs to help Chugiak sweep visiting West 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-19) on Oct. 9. Rachel Gregg had nine blocks and 10 kills for the Mustangs, who got 15 digs, three kills and three blocks from Kirsten Veech.


South 3, Eagle River 0

South swept host Eagle River 3-0 (25-9, 25-8, 25-13) on Oct. 9. Paige Harder dished out 12 assists for the Wolves, who got six kills from Kyla Meadows and four aces from Kara Viotto.



Eagle River downs East

Cat Papasodora fired a 295 to lead Eagle River past East 3,148-2,763 on Oct. 10. She was just one point shy of tying the Cook Inlet Conference record of 296.

Tristan Henderson (288) recorded his second straight perfect 100 in the prone position for the Wolves.


Chugiak tops Bartlett

Garret Johnson fired a 283 to lead Chugiak, which defeated visiting Bartlett 3,051-2,929 on Oct. 10. The Mustangs’ Joseph Diaz recorded a perfect 100 in the prone position.
