Events galore for local Lions
Time seems to fly by faster each year. It seems like yesterday we were playing baseball and football, hosting a rodeo, having family picnics and getting together to celebrate our independence at the Eagle River Lions Park.
Well, summer might be over, but it is only the beginning for Lions members serving across our community. The snow may be a bit late this year, but the holidays are arriving exactly on schedule.
With these special times comes a great sense of community, and an even higher need for giving through donating and volunteering. Here are just a few of the events and projects the Eagle River Lions, Sleeping Lady Mountain Lions, Chugiak Lions Clubs and our wonderful Bear Mountain Leo’s program will be offering the Chugiak-Eagle River community over the next couple months.
• Thursday, Nov. 28: All three local Lions Clubs will be hosting the Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the Eagle River Lions Clubhouse. Dinner is free and open to everyone in the community.
• Saturday, Dec. 21 and Sunday, Dec. 22 : The Eagle River Lions will be providing charity food baskets for families in need during Christmas. In addition to the food baskets, the Sleeping Lady Mountain Lions and Bear Mountain Leos will be offering presents collected each year for local children during their annual Tree of Giving project.
• Wednesday, Dec. 25: The three Lions clubs will once again be working together to host the Annual Community Christmas Dinner at the Eagle River Lions Clubhouse. There will be live Christmas music and just like Thanksgiving, the dinner is completely free and everyone is welcome.
