Eagle River woman robbed, punched
An unknown male forced his way through the back door of an Eagle River home, punched the 37-year-old resident in the face and used a stun gun on her Oct. 30, according to Anchorage Police. A female accomplice stole prescription medication, cash and a PFD check that belonged to one of the resident’s children, APD spokesperson Anita Shell said. A 4-year-old and 2-year-old were in the home on Wren Lane when the incident occurred, she said.
No arrests had been made as of Friday, Nov. 8.
Eagle River woman caught shoplifting
An Eagle River woman was cited for stealing $277.49 worth of merchandise from the Eagle River Carrs just before 8 p.m. on Oct. 31, Shell said. Martha Jones, 50, left the store when confronted by a security guard, Shell said. The security guard noted the license plate number of a car Jones was a passenger in and reported it to police, she said.
APD responded to an Anchorage residence and cited Jones, Shell said.
Speeding leads to DUI arrest
Anchorage’s Joshua Atkinson, 26, was charged with driving under the influence after police stopped him for speeding on the Glenn Highway in Eagle River on Nov. 3 around 3 a.m. Atkinson provided a breath sample of .078, Shell said. The legal limit is .08.
Shell said Atkinson told officers he had taken medication. He was taken to Anchorage Jail with bail set at $250.
Charges are merely accusations; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
