Chugiak grad to skate at World University Games

2008 Chugiak High graduate Ramey Weaver will participate in her second Winter World University Games as part of the U.S. women’s national hockey team Dec. 10-21 in Trentino, Italy. Weaver also played in the Games two years ago.

Weaver, 24, is a graduate student at Robert Morris (Ill.) University.


Eagle River’s Griffin player of the week

Eagle River’s Kelsey Griffin was recently named the Women’s National Basketball League’s player of the week after scoring 29 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and two blocks for the Bendigo Spirit. Last year, Griffin led the Australian team to a WNBL title and was named Grand Final MVP.


Cobb seals victory for Duke

2011 Chugiak High graduate Kelly Cobb scored in a shootout to seal a 5-3 win and send Duke University to its third straight elite eight appearance in the NCAA Division I women’s soccer tournament.

Duke was eliminated after falling to Virginia Tech 3-0 on Friday, Nov. 29.
