ER girls basketball full of hard workers
Eagle River’s girls want to notch more wins this basketball season — and second-year head coach Princella Jones said she has the squad to make that a reality.
“I think we’re gonna do well,” she said.
In order to build the program, Jones said the Wolves are fielding just one team this season. Though most of the 14 on the roster are young, Eagle River has some talent, she said.
“We have some surprising freshmen,” Jones said.
The fresh blood should mix well with returners Samantha Coy, Lauren Frost and Katy Tomter, she said.
“They’ll mesh real good with our returners,” Jones said.
Those returners have a goal: make state.
“They want a banner,” Jones said.
The Wolves have been putting in the work necessary to achieve that goal, she said.
“They’re running. They’re not complaining,” Jones said. “I’m pleased with what I’m seeing.”
Jones said she’s excited to start the season and see how much the Wolves can improve. One area the team doesn’t need to work on is its attitude, she said.
“They’re working hard,” Jones said. “I can’t ask for anything more.”
