APD seeks public's help in locating sexual assault suspect
The Anchorage Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a sexual assault suspect.
An arrest warrant has been issued for James Kim, 56, for one count of first-degree attempted sexual assault and one count of second-degree sexual assault, APD said in a statement Wednesday, Oct. 23. The accusations stem from a report by a female that Kim sexually assaulted her in late August.
Kim was no longer at the residence where he had been staying when officers tried to make an arrest, APD said. It was thought that Kim returned to Korea, but new information suggests he is still in the Anchorage area, possibly staying with different residents who might not be aware of his warrant, APD said.
Kim has also been trying to get a job on a fishing vessel, APD said.
APD described Kim as a 5-foot-7, 160-pound Asian male. He has brown eyes and black hair. Kim was driving a white 1995 Chevy Astro utility van, APD said, but it's possible he doesn't have it anymore.
APD is asking that anyone with information on Kim's location call 786-8900 or Crimestoppers at 561-7867 to remain anonymous.
