C/ER POLICE BRIEFS AND BLOTTER FOR DEC. 11-17, 2017

On Dec. 12, police received a report that someone had cut out a circle in an outer pane of a window at Health Wise in Eagle River. It did not appear anyone got inside, and police said no other damage was found.
Police responded to Coronado Road for a reported burglary on Dec. 12, but officers determined all of the items the victim thought had been stolen were accounted for.
On Dec. 12 at around 10:56 p.m., police were called for a report that a man broke two glass doors while exiting Garcia’s restaurant. The suspect was described as a white man approximately 40-45 years old, about 5-feet-10, and weighing 200 pounds. The case is pending.
On Dec. 14 at around 2:27 a.m., an APD officer tried to stop a black Cadillac driving 80 MPH in a 65 MPH zone on the Glenn Highway. The officer said the Cadillac sped up to over 100 MPH and continued over the Knik Bridge. The officer notified Mat-Su dispatchers.
On Dec. 14 at around 11:28 a.m., police were called to Pleasant View Drive for a report of an assault. According to police, a woman wanted to report her adult son had been physically assaulted by his roommate a few days earlier. The woman did not witness the altercation, and police said the son had not reported the incident, nor did he want to. Police told the woman police couldn’t take action if the victim didn’t come forward.
On Dec. 15, a locked vehicle with a spare key inside was stolen from a residence on Sumac Drive. The next day, police recovered the vehicle unoccupied in Anchorage while responding to a separate stolen vehicle complaint.
On Dec. 15 at around 4:53 p.m., police received a report that the front door of a home on Jackson Hole Drive that had been unoccupied for several years was kicked in and several items had been stolen. The case is under investigation.
On Dec. 16 at around 4:19 a.m., an officer with APD’s Impaired Driving Enforcement Unit stopped a Dodge Ram on the Glenn Highway. The driver, Colten A. Palmer, 25, of Wasilla, exited the vehicle and was given a field sobriety test. During a pat-down, Palmer informed officers he had a handgun in the vehicle. He was arrested for operating under the influence and for being drunk in possession of a firearm.
On Dec. 17 at around 3:01 a.m., an officer pulled over a vehicle near the intersection of the Old Glenn and Harry McDonald Road after allegedly watching it weaving and crossing over the lane lines. The driver, Steven S. Haynes, 55, of Eagle River, was arrested for operating under the influence.
