Chinooks opener rained out
Tonight’s scheduled Alaska Baseball League game between the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks and the Anchorage Bucs has been postponed due to rain.
“That’s Alaska, it is what it is,” said Chinooks general manager Chris Beck, who announced the decision Tuesday afternoon.
Persistent rain in the area overnight and through Tuesday made the field unplayable, Beck said.
Beck said the game will be rescheduled for either later this month or in late July.
The Chinooks will now open their season Wednesday, June 13, at the Bucs at 7 p.m. at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.
The team’s home opener will now be Thursday, June 14, against the Mat-Su Miners. Opening ceremonies begin at 6:30 p.m.
