Chinooks win three straight
The Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks won their third straight game 5-0 over the Anchorage Bucs on Sunday, June 17 at Mulcahy Stadium to remain unbeaten in Alaska Baseball League play.
The Chinooks only managed four hits, but they got some help from Bucs starter Erick Allen who walked four and gave up four runs, three of them earned, in just one inning of work.
Caleb Dirks got the win for the Chinooks, who used four pitchers. Dirks struck out two and gave up three hits through three innings.
J.J. Turbin, Adam Humes, Griffin Gum and Steven Karkenny supplied the hits for Chugiak-Eagle River. Karkenny, Gum, Drew Shields, Kristopher Kwak and Brent Fukushima scored a run apiece for the Chinooks.
After two postponements, the Chinooks' home opener is set for Monday, June 18 at Loretta French Park in Chugiak. Opening ceremonies begin at 6:30 p.m. with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
