Chinooks notch first win at home
The Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks notched their first home win after defeating the Peninsula Oilers 12-10 on Friday, June 22 at Loretta French Park.
The Chinooks (4-2) play the Anchorage Glacier Pilots on Saturday, June 23 at Mulcahy Stadium at 10 p.m. before heading to Fairbanks for four games in three days against the Goldpanners.
The Chinooks scored five runs in the fourth inning to take an 8-4 advantage. They increased their lead to 12-6 after six innings.
But the Oilers fought back.
Trailing 12-7, the Oilers scored three runs with one out in the ninth inning. But relievers Kelby Deerman and David Mitroff combined to get the final outs of the game and seal the win for Chugiak-Eagle River.
Adam Humes led the Chinooks with two, two-run doubles.
"He had another big night tonight," Chinooks manager Jon Groth said.
Chinooks infielder Kris Kwak hit his second home run at Loretta French in as many games in the sixth inning.
