CHS sophomore has impressive XC season debut

Chugiak’s Ty Jordan raced to a fourth-place finish at the season-opening Bartlett State Preview cross country meet at Bartlett High.

Jordan, a former ASD middle school champion who will be a sophomore this season, completed the 5-kilometer course in 16:56.5.

Grace Christian’s Daniel Serventi won in 16:46.5. Senior David McPhetres was 7th for the 5th place Mustangs.

Eagle River’s Alec Smith placed 12th in 17:19 to lead the 9th place Wolves.

Wasilla’s Alex Mathis won the girls race in 19:31.1. Chugiak’s Hannah Booher (21:01.6) was the top local girl in 19th for the 11th place Mustangs. Eagle River’s Peyton Young (21:04.6) was 21st to lead the Wolves to a 7th place showing.

Cross country runners will be out of town this coming weekend at the Skyview Invitational at the Tsalteshi Trails in Soldotna.
