Sharrer, 93, spent 30 years in the Army

Eagle River resident Robert A. Sharrer, 93, died Jan. 15, 2010, while visiting his daughter in New Hampshire.

Memorial services and interment will be held this summer in Pittsburgh.

He was born in Westminster, Md., in 1916, and after graduating from Western Maryland College served in the U.S. Army for 30 years, retiring at Fort Richardson in 1967. He spent another 10 years working for the State of Alaska. He had lived in Alaska since 1964.

His wife, Elizabeth, preceded him in death in 1991.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Mary Ann Sharrer of Colchester, Conn.; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Bill Bokermann of Lyme, N.H.; son, Joseph Sharrer of Eagle River; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
