Eagle River DMV reports potential fraud

The staff at the Eagle River office for the Department of Motor Vehicles alerted the Anchorage Police of a potential fraud on the afternoon of Jan. 27. According to police department spokesman Lt. David Parker, two females claiming to be related to Karen Cronin sought to obtain a duplicate title for Cronin's mobile home, claiming she was too sick to obtain it herself. One of the women signed an affidavit of lost title in Karen Cronin's name and immediately transferred the mobile home to the other woman. Karen Cronin's son John came in to DMV on Jan. 27 with a death certificate showing that his mother had died on Jan. 6. The case is still being investigated.
