Middle School ski season closes with strong performances

The middle school cross-country ski season ended last week with a pair of races, held Feb. 16 and Feb. 18 at Kincaid Park. Mirror Lake Middle School eighth-grade skiers David McPhetres and Sarissa Lammers, and seventh-grader Victoria Parsons, were consistent top-four placers, maintaining their positions for the finals.
McPhetres took second place in the varsity-level 4.9-kilometer skate-ski race, while Lammers captured third place. Parsons, skiing the varsity girls' sixth-seventh-grade level, placed fourth.
In team relays Feb. 18, Mirror Lake's top Grade 6-7 mixed teams were second and fourth places, and its top-placing eighth-grade team took fourth. Gruening's top teams captured 11th for seventh-graders and 16th for eighth-graders.
