Rhonda J. Faraday, formerly of Eagle River and daughter of Gary and Margie Faraday of Eagle River, plans to marry John Paul Naus of Fort Worth, Texas plan to marry on February 12, 2005, in San Antonio, Texas. Faraday is a 1996 graduate of Chugiak High School. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001 with a bachelor's degree and is finishing her master's degree in Physician Assistant studies at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Naus is the son of Dr. Peter and Mary Naus of Fort Worth. He graduated in 2001 from the University of Texas at Austin and is a third-year medical student at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. The couple plans to reside in San Antonio until John's residency begins. Renee Marie Faraday, formerly of Eagle River and daughter of Gary and Margie Faraday of Eagle River, plans to marry Roger "Tripp" Bridges III on Nov. 26, 2004, in New Orleans, La. Faraday is a 1999 Chugiak High School graduate. She is an air traffic controller/automation specialist in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Ariz. Tripp, the son of Roger and Teresa Bridges of Pascagoula, Miss., is also stationed at Luke Air Force Base and is an F-16 crew chief. The couple will continue to reside at Luke Air Force Base.

Kassidy Gabrielle Perkins was born Feb. 17, 2004, at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage. She weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces. Kassidy is the daughter of Tabitha Hughes and Koby Perkins of Chugiak. Jacob Ryan Whetsell was born Feb. 16, 2004, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. He weighed 8 pounds, 15 ounces. Jacob is the son of Samantha and Jason Whetsell of Eagle River. Anasia Grace Lourie was born January 17, 2004, at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. She weighed 9 pounds, 13 ounces. Anasia is the daughter of long-time Eagle River resident Nichole Temple Lourie and her husband, Jeremy.
Achievers
Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash., named the following students from Eagle River to the fall quarter 2003 dean's list: Ashley Adams, Erin Bendle, Powell Gallagher, Sean Gallagher, Destiny Rice, Magayr Stiehr, and Charlene Hose. Gavin Northey of Chugiak was named to the dean's list for the fall semester of 2003 at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. In order to be named to the dean's list a student must earn a 3.5 GPA or better while taking at least 12 graded credit hours. Beverly Gurtler, a volunteer in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary's Eagle River Flotilla, earned the Howard C. Thew Award for performing the most vessel examinations. She also received a Division 3 award for completing more than 75 vessel safety checks. The Eagle River Flotilla, largely due to her efforts, also earned the Philis S. Smith Award (flotilla with more than 30 members) for conducting the most classes in youth education and the Commodore Roderic S. Carpenter Memorial Award (flotilla with more than 30 members) for conducting the highest number of vessel examinations. Alex Temple and Bryce Temple, sons of Vic and Laura Temple of Eagle River, graduated from the Marine Corp Recruit Depot in San Diego, Calif., Jan. 23. Alex is now in Fire & Rescue Training in San Angelo, Texas, and Bryce is in Infantry training at Camp Pendleton in California. Mikell Vondolteren of Eagle River graduated from Boston University this winter. He received a M.C.J. in criminal justice.
