POLICE BRIEFS

Compiled by SALLY FOO

Vehicle vandalism
A vehicle belonging to Travis Hill, 25, of the 14000 block of the Old Glenn Highway was vandalized April 25 at about 1:45 a.m., when a neighbor called police after hearing movement outside. The neighbor saw four male juveniles dressed in dark clothing looking through Hill's truck. The center console of the truck had been rifled through, but nothing was missing, according to Anita Shell, spokeswoman for the Anchorage Police Department.

More vehicle vandalism
Matthew Livingston, 38, of the 16000 block of David Street called the Anchorage Police Department April 25 at 6:03 a.m. to report that his vehicle had been broken into and an 80-gigabyte iPod had been stolen, said APD spokeswoman Anita Shell.

A tankful of sugar
Daniel Oleniczak, 52, of the 9300 block of West Lake Drive in Eagle River, called the Anchorage Police Department April 29 at 10:09 p.m. to report that when he took his 1967 Mercury Cougar out of storage and had problems starting it, he realized sugar had been poured into the gas tank, said Anita Shell, APD spokeswoman.

Under the influence
Sophia Chya, 35, of Sutton was charged with driving under the influence April 30 at 4:30 a.m. inbound on the Glenn Highway near the North Birchwood exit.

Charges are merely accusations; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty at trial or until a plea of guilty is accepted by the court.
