From duct tape to smelly shoes, here are the winners

  Norma Hannah and her dog Kate dance a waltz Sunday during the Bear Paw Festival's Dog and Owner Look-A-Like contest Saturday. The duo won the adult competition. Alicia Guiles and her dog Skippy won in the children's catagory.  
Bear Paw Festival contest winners:

Rita Fay won the Spenard Builders Supply Duct Tape Bear contest with her catchy name for the bear sculpture created during the festival. Fay's name of "Miss Li-bear-ty & Duct Tape for All" netted a $250 gift certificate to SBS.

Results from the Classic Car Show: Best Motorcycle, 2004 diesel motorcycle owned by Joe Kiser; Best Sports Car,1963 Corvette owned by Joe Inama; Best Street Machine, 1950 Mercury Custom owned by Steve Robertson; Best Street Rod, 1936 Ford 3-window coupe owned by Ray Agen; Best Truck, 1954 GMC pickup owned by KB Bettisworth; Best Stock Restored pre-48, 1940 Ford Sedan owned by Jeff Hassler; Best Stock Restored post 48, 1955 Dodge Lancer owned by Owen Gourley; Best Import, 1965 VW Bug owned by Randy Elwood; Best Competition Vehicle, 1967 Camaro owned by Pat Thorell; Bear Paw Court Award, 1949 Cadillac owned by Jerry Roach; and Ambassador Award, 1928 Ford Model A owned by Steve Hill.

Winners for the Bear Paw Grand Parade: Grand Prize, Prudential Vista Real Estate; Bill Lowe Community Spirit Award, Cub Scout Pack 293; Rosie McDonald Spirit of the Festival Award, VCA Eagle River Animal Hospital; and Judges Award, Alaska Veterans' Museum.

Commercial Float Awards: First Place, Prudential Vista Real Estate; Second Place, tie between the VCA Eagle River Animal Hospital and ReMax of Eagle River; Third Place, Northern Lights Nursery; Fourth Place, Campus Crusade for Christ Alaska Project.

Marching/Walking Awards: First Place, Alaska Veterans' Museum; Second Place, tie between the U.S. Army Recruiting and Team Lisa with Senator Lisa Murkowski; and Third Place, Sleeping Lady Mountain Lions Club.

Youth Float Awards: First Place, Cub Scout Pack 293; Second Place, tie between Alaska National Pageant and Eagle River-Chugiak Parks, Recreation and Community Development; Third Place, Chugiak High School Cheerleaders.

The Noncommercial Float Awards: First Place, Pickled Posse Red Hat Society, Second Place, no winner; and Third Place, tie between River of Life Lutheran Church and Mustang Hockey Association.

Autos Awards: First Place, tie between Anchorage Corvette Association and Midnight Sun Street Rod Association; Second Place, Plan-It Earth; Third Place, Antique Auto Mushers of Alaska; and Fourth Place, Independent Baptist Church.

Winners of the Odor Eaters Rotten Sneaker Contest: grand prize, Kyla Dinkel, 10, Wasilla; first runner-up, Andrew Spencer, 8, Big Lake; second runner-up, Thomas Sydenham, 11, Eagle River; Purple Sole of Valor, Leslie Dinkel, Wasilla.

Bob Lopez was the grand prize winner of the Tri-Bear-a-Thon.

Swing dance contest winners were Greg and Glenda Young, first place; Nathan Mortier and Stephanie Houser, second place; Gene Backus and Devon Peake, third place.

Mustang Hockey Association representatives Robert McCormick and Scott Russi took first place in the Slippery Salmon Olympics. Speedy Auto Glass representatives Peter and Jason Johnson took second place.

The Bear Paw Chili Cook-off winners were Judy Salgado, first place; Dennis Lattery, second place. Dennis Lattery won the people's choice for the chili cook-off. Mary Helms won best salsa and best booth and Julie Edwards won best beans. Kevin Sommers is the Tortilla Tossing Champ and Johnny Cox won the Jalapeno Eating Contest by eating 10 jalapenos in 15 seconds.
