Law, 53, loved to fly, duck hunt and fish

June 16, 1956 - Sept. 23, 2009

Eagle River resident Robert "Bob" Alan Law, 53, died Sept. 23, 2009, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage after a lengthy illness.

A celebration of life was held Sunday at the Eagle River Elks Lodge #2682.

Bob was born June 16, 1956, in Bourne, Mass. He moved to Alaska in 1980.

As a helicopter pilot for more than 30 years, Bob flew to many remote locations throughout Alaska. Employed by ERA Helicopters LLC since 1996, Capt. Law flew for Lifeguard Alaska, transporting patients in need of medical assistance to Providence Hospital. His most recent assignments were flying oil and gas contractors from the OSK Heliport in Nikiski to the offshore platforms in the inlet.

Capt. Law was an active member of the Eagle River Elks Lodge #2682 and held several officer positions during his 21-year membership.

Bob loved to fly; it was his passion as well as his occupation. He also enjoyed cooking, fishing, duck hunting, golfing and was a certified scuba diver.

Bob will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor and the love and kindness he showed to all those he came in contact with.

His spontaneity led him to escort his wife Rhonda to Las Vegas where they were married by Elvis.

Bob's life was cut much too short, and he will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Capt. Law is survived by his wife Rhonda; step-daughter, Whitney (Chris) Tillman and daughter Morgana (Will) Cooper of Eagle River; parents, Hal and Elaine Law of Anchorage; sister, Cathy (Jim) Rockman of Minnesota; sister, Sandra (Gene) Heffern of Anchorage; nieces, Kimberly and Alyson Rockman of Minnesota and Hanna Heffern of Anchorage; and nephews, Dylan and Eliot Heffern of Anchorage.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eagle River Elks Lodge Scholarship fund, 17111 Eagle River Loop Road, Eagle River, AK 99577 or the Lupus Foundation of America, Alaska Chapter, P.O. Box 240628, Anchorage, AK 99524.

Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
