Lamoreaux, 81, homesteaded in Peters Creek area

Oct. 23, 1927 - Oct. 22, 2009

Chugiak resident Norma J. Lamoreaux, 81, died Oct. 22, 2009, at home.

A private family service is planned.

She was born Oct 23, 1927, in Royal Oak, Mich. She married Alvin P. Lamoreaux on Jan. 31, 1948, and they moved to Alaska in 1954 with three small children.

She worked for Super S Store for many years. Norma was a homemaker who loved to cook large meals, so there was extra for anyone who stopped by. She was also an Alaska gardener who enjoyed working in her yard, keeping it beautiful.

She helped to build their home in Chugiak and later helped her husband homestead 160 acres in Peters Creek Valley. There is no question she saw a lot of changes. From field phone to cell phone, she always made the best of what she had. A very loving, caring, hard-working person was Norma -- a true Alaska Pioneer.

She will be missed greatly by family and friends.

Norma is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin and Linda Lamoreaux, and Leonard and Debbie Lamoreaux; special son, Billy; daughters and son-in law, Patricia Lamoreaux, and Joy and Bud Pennington; sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Ken Skalecki; brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Diane Morris; sister-in-law, Janie Morris; sister- and brother-in-law, Shirley and Bill Milliken; grandchildren, Kurt Lamoreaux, Kenny Lamoreaux, Jennifer Pennington, Megan, Morgan and McKinsey Lamoreaux, Sydne Wheeler and Cassie Day; great-grandchildren, Jorden, Lyndsey, Jachin, Ethan, Logan, Lucas, Alivia, Aria, Kaydence and Shayde; and extended family, James Price and family, Joan and Charlie Shawback and family, and Bruce and Debbie Pearson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin P. Lamoreaux.

Contributions may be made in memory of Norma Lamoreaux to Providence Hospice Foundation, 3435 E. Tudor Road, Anchorage 99507

Arrangements are with Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
