POLICE BRIEFS: APD arrests man for allegedly pointing gun on Glenn

On Jan. 9 at around 2:28 p.m., APD received a report from a man who said another man pointed a gun at him while both were both driving on the Glenn Highway. Officers stopped a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s and found Mark J. Ciarlo, 50, of Anchorage in possession of a firearm. Ciarlo was arrested for third-degree assault and fifth-degree misconduct involving a weapon.

On Jan. 10 at around 1:19 a.m., an APD officer stopped to check on a vehicle stuck in a snowbank near the intersection of Kahiltna Drive and Kantishna Drive in Eagle River. According to police, the officer searched a passenger, Micah E. McComas, 40, of Chugiak, and found McComas was in possession of a handgun. Having been previously convicted of a felony, McComas was arrested for third-degree misconduct involving a weapon.
On the way to the Anchorage Jail, police say McComas tried to discard drugs in the back of the patrol car. He was additionally charged with fifth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and tampering with evidence.

On Jan. 10 at around 7:48 a.m., APD responded to a call on Fire Eagle Way and arrested Heath J. Deegan, 28, of Eagle River for misdemeanor assault, family violence in the presence of a child and fifth-degree criminal mischief after he allegedly assaulted a family member and broke the family member’s cell phone.

On Jan. 14 at around 3:46 p.m., APD arrested Leslie A. Brown, 27, of Eagle River, for misdemeanor assault and family violence in the presence of children after she allegedly hit a family member with a broom and brandished a knife at another family member.

On Jan. 12 at around 9:08 a.m., APD responded to Walmart for a report that a counterfeit $20 bill was used to pay for merchandise. The case is under investigation.

On Jan. 13 at around 10:29 a.m., APD was called to Walmart for a report that a man tried to purchase items with a stolen credit card. The suspect left the store before store security could arrive, and he took no items with him. The card was stolen from a location in the Mat-Su. The case was forwarded to Alaska State Troopers for further investigation.

On Jan. 15 at around 6:26 p.m., APD responded to the Eagle River Motel for a disturbance in the parking lot. While on scene, officers spotted Autumn E. McGough, 25, of Eagle River, who they were aware was wanted on an outstanding warrant. McGough was taken to Anchorage Jail.

On Jan. 9 at around 12:47 p.m., Anchorage police received a report that a Conex belonging to the Alaska Laborers Training School was broken into. The lock to the Conex was broken, but nothing was reported stolen from inside. However, some steel vehicle rims that were left outside the Conex were taken. The case is under investigation.
