Wolves feast on Kardinals
Nine different players got in the scoring column as Eagle River ran away from Kenai Central on Saturday in a nonconference high school hockey game at the McDonald Center in Eagle River.
Ben Rinckey and Logan Dudinsky scored two goals each for the Wolves, who scored four times in the first period en route to a 7-0 win over the Kardinals.
Brayden Rachow, Elias Christian and Sutton McDonald also scored goals for the Wolves, who got three assists from Brandon Lajoie, two each from Sutton and Cam McDonald and one from both Brooks Christian and Joshua Linn.
The Wolves started four sets of brothers in the game: Cam and Sutton McDonald, Brooks and Elias Christian, Joshua and Austin Linn, and Brayden and Logan Rachow.
Chandler Annis stopped all 14 shots he faced in net to earn the shutout for Eagle River, which outshot Kenai 48-14. The Kardinals were missing three players due to game ejections in Friday’s 6-2 loss to East.
The win was the second in three days over a Northern Lights Conference team from the Twin Cities for Eagle River, which defeated Soldotna 3-0 on Thursday, Jan. 19. Linn scored twice and Brooks Christian scored once in the Thursday for the Wolves, who got 10 saves from Brendan Whetsell.
Eagle River returns to Cook Inlet Conference play against Bartlett on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7:15 p.m. at the McDonald Center.
