ASD cancels after-school activities Thursday, Jan. 26

The Anchorage School District has canceled all after-school activities for Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017.

The district made the decision due to icy roads areawide caused by a recent warm-up that sent temperatures well above freezing and caused some roads to become extremely slick. 

The cancellation includes all sporting events, including the planned high school hockey game between Bartlett and Eagle River, which has been rescheduled to be played at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27 at the McDonald Center in Eagle River. The game will precede the scheduled Chugiak vs. East game at 7:15 p.m. Eagle River and Chugiak play each other in the final game of the regular season for both teams at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Mac.

District spokeswoman said the slickest road conditions on Thursday were reported along the Anchorage Hillside and in Chugiak-Eagle River.
