Beckett’s goal rush propels Mustangs to CIC hockey win
Jarett Beckett needed less than six minutes to score a natural hat trick Wednesday, leading the Chugiak Mustangs to a 3-1 Cook Inlet Conference win over Service at Ben Boeke Ice Arena.
Beckett’s goal rush started 90 seconds into the game when he scored off a Chris Kennedy assist. He racked an unassisted goal 61 seconds later, then added a power play tally with 9:32 left in the period — making it three goals in a span of 3 minutes, 58 seconds.
Tyler Huffer and Riley Lindberg added assists for Chugiak, which improved to 8-3 in the CIC.
Chugiak can earn a first-round bye in the conference playoffs with a win or tie in any of its three remaining CIC games. The Mustangs face 3-9 East Thursday night at Ben Boeke.
Alayna Berivogel made 22 saves for the Mustangs, who outshot Service 35-21. The Cougars fell to 5-6 in the CIC.

Dylan Hoey gave Dimond the lead for good with 5:16 left in the second period and Dolan added an empty netter with 10 seconds left in the third.
