Vandals strike Gruening Middle School

On July 8 at around 8:52 a.m. police received a report that someone had vandalized Gruening Middle School on Lee Street. According to police, the back side of the building, doors and windows were painted with obscenities. Police said the case is under investigation.
Burglar breaks into empty apartments
On July 10 at around 10:41 a.m. police received a report that someone broke through the front door of an apartment on Centerfield Drive, then cut a hole through the wall into an adjacent apartment. Police said both apartments were vacant as they were being remodeled, and nothing appeared to be missing.
Trailer, shed burglarized
On July 10 at around 11:39 a.m. police received a report that someone cut the locks off an unoccupied trailer and a shed on E. Henkins Road and stole several items from inside both.
Driver of stolen vehicle eludes police
On July 11 at around 2:08 a.m. an APD officer pulled over a gray Ford Focus after allegedly watching it being driven at more than 90 MPH on the Glenn Highway. Police said dispatchers told the officer the vehicle was stolen and the officer gave the driver instructions over the patrol car’s PA system. However, instead of complying, police said the driver sped off at a high rate of speed. Police said the officer initially gave chase but called off the pursuit for safety reasons.
Man arrested for impaired driving
On July 11 at around 5:46 p.m. police arrested Damien Q. Jensen, 22, of Anchorage for operating under the influence on the Glenn Highway.
On July 12 at around 2 p.m. police received a report that someone entered an apartment on Centerfield Drive, ransacked the place, and stole several items while the resident was at work.
