Emilee Groth completed an undefeated season with more perfection.

The Chugiak senior knocked off West Valley’s Klara Kondrak in straight sets Saturday to win a state championship in girls singles at the ASAA/First National Bank Alaska State Tennis Championships at the Alaska Club East in Anchorage.

The win was Chugiak’s first state tennis title since the tournament began in 2007.

Groth won 6-1, 6-0 in her first meeting with the unseeded Kondrak, who knocked off the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds before falling to Groth, who finished fifth at last year’s state tourney.

Chugiak also got a fourth-place finish in girls singles from Risa Otani, who rallied from a first-set loss to win her fourth-place match against West’s Sophia Green.

Chugiak’s Riley Fugere earned his second straight fourth-place state finish, knocking off West Valley’s Cole Neal 6-0, 6-1.

Chugiak’s girls doubles team (Megan Anshutz and Tyana Melak) and mixed doubles team (Francis Wanek and Bethany Kesler) finished fifth.
