Eagle River claimed a fifth-place finish at the 20-team Dimond/Service Volleyball Tournament Friday and Saturday in Anchorage.
The Wolves went 5-3 in pool play to finish second in a pool that included Wasilla, North Pole, Homer and Juneau. The finish advanced the team into the “Gold” bracket for the top eight teams after the first day of play.
On Saturday morning, Eagle River opened bracket play with a three-set loss to East (18-25, 25-14, 10-15) before rallying to knock off Service in three sets (25-23, 17-25, 25-13). The Wolves were then eliminated with a three-set loss (25-23, 23-25, 8-15) to Palmer Saturday afternoon, tying Colony for fifth place.
