Wolves net pair of CIC wins

Eagle River’s Brandon Parrish just scored five points in the Wolves’ 66-62 Cook Inlet Conference overtime win over East on Tuesday, Feb. 14, but he made them count.

Parrish, a junior guard, took a feed from Chris Parker and made a lay-up with 30 seconds left to give his team a 63-61 lead at Eagle River High. Parrish also made the game-tying free throw to make it 61-61.

Parker scored six of his game-high 26 points in overtime to lead the Wolves, who also got 11 from Kelechi Madubuko and 10 from freshman Chaz Jenkins off the bench.

The win lifted the Wolves to 5-5 in the CIC.

Next up for the Wolves is a showdown tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Chugiak with the coveted “Birchwood Bowl” traveling trophy on the line.


Dimond 73, Chugiak 27

Dimond shot a blistering 52 percent from the field to earn a 73-27 win over Chugiak at Dimond on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Skyler Fullmer led the Mustangs with eight points and Matt Oldenkamp added seven.

The loss dropped Chugiak to 0-10 in the CIC.


Eagle River 66, South 58

Shaquan Rhoades poured in 22 points to lead visiting Eagle River past CIC foe South 66-58 on Feb. 10.

Chris Parker (15 points) and Kevin Waterman (12 points) also reached double digits for the Wolves.

Eagle River held South to just five second-quarter points and built an 18-point lead by halftime.

Thomas Jones (9 points), Kelechi Madubuko (6 points) and Patrick Prior (2 points) also scored for the Wolves.


Service 69, Chugiak 36

Service exploded for 32 third-quarter points to run away from Chugiak 69-36 in CIC play Saturday, Feb. 11 at Service.

Amu Aukisitino led three Cougars in double digits with 16 points.

Matt Oldenkamp scored eight of his team-high 10 points in the fourth quarter for Chugiak, which also got seven points from Skyler Fullmer, six from Ryan Harris and five from Payton Fullmer.


Colony 51, Chugiak 48, OT

Colony earned a 51-48 nonconference win over Chugiak on Feb. 10 at Chugiak.

The Knights outscored the Mustangs 5-2 in overtime after the two were tied at 46 at the end of regulation.

Skyler Fullmer paced Chugiak with 19 points. Steven Puterbaugh pumped in 10 and Marquis Spearman added eight.
