Lions, chamber set to host candidate forum

Wednesday, February 22, 2012 - 20:00

It is that season again, no not break-up quite yet; rather, it is municipal election season. Among the seats that are up for grabs are positions on the Anchorage School Board (which are all elected “At Large”) and the opportunity to choose who will be the Mayor for the next three years.

The Chugiak-Eagle River Chamber of Commerce and the Sleeping Lady Lions Clubs have long been active participants, and often partners, in our community and are thrilled to bring the Eagle River and Chugiak area the opportunity to hear from the candidates that want to represent all of us. This event is free to attend, and since it’s around dinner time, a light dinner will be available, for a small fee, for those who wish to partake.

Community service begins with community. It is moments like these, that we as friends and neighbors get to come together and listen to candidates, ask questions, and communicate those ideas which are important to each of us. The exchange of ideas, the gathering together to choose who will lead us in the years to come, is the basic foundation of civil liberty; this is what democracy and freedom is all about. Bring your family, tell your neighbor, and invite your facebook friends. We would like to thank Casey Reynolds, 750 am KFQD radio personality, for making the trip to Eagle River to moderate this event. We look forward to seeing the candidates and a packed house of Chugiak and Eagle River residents on March 2nd at the Eagle River Lion Club from 6pm to 8pm.
