Larry Rutter

Chugiak resident Lawrence “Larry” Wayne Rutter died Sunday, March 11, 2012 in Anchorage. He was 61.

Rutter was born on Aug. 27, 1950 in Redding, Calif. He was a graduate of Central Valley High School in Central Valley, Calif. He arrived in Alaska in June of 1989 after retiring from work at a cement plant. In 1991, he began working on the Alyeska Pipeline, where he worked until he retired in 2008.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting trees for firewood, riding his ATV, snow machining, having a beer with friends and spending time with family and friends.
“Larry was an outstanding father, husband and friend,” his family said. “He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone — any time or any place. He will be greatly missed.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Joy Rutter.

He is survived by his wife Tracy of Chugiak; daughter and son-in-law Buffi and Jerry Brown of Dunsmuir, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law Dustin and Gina Rutter of Dunsmuir; grandsons Cody and Christopher Brown and Evan Freeman, all of Dunsmuir; granddaughter Alison Freeman of Dunsmuir; sister Nancy Matheson of Shingletown, Calif.; and brother Burton Rutter of Trinidad, Calif.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, March 23 at 3 p.m. at the American Legion Post 33 in Peters Creek.
