From left, Alaska School Activities Association executive director Gary Matthews, Steven Puterbaugh, Kody Trombley, Justin Schneider, Gov. Sean Parnell, Travis Craig, Rep. Bill Stoltze and Sen. Kevin Meyer pose after Parnell signed Senate Bill 119 into law on May 29 in Anchorage. The law will allow Alaska homeschooled students to play sports at public schools in the area in which they live. Puterbaugh, Trombley, Schneider and Craig were members of Chugiak High’s 2011 football team, which forfeited six games last season for using an ineligible player who lived in Chugiak but attended a Galena-based homeschool program.
